How smart are the kids of this generation?

We recall when the generation now referred to as “90’s kids” were professionals in the field of technology. Whether it was adjusting the TV antennas or simply turning on the television for their parents, they did it all. Even though their parents were undoubtedly smarter, children felt a tremendous sense of power when they were expected to perform these minor jobs. However, when these young people enter their late twenties, the current generation of youngsters appears to be becoming more immersed in technology, something that even our youth are ignorant of. Is it true that this makes kids smarter?

Is technology making us less intelligent?

There is a myth that today’s children use less of their brains in tasks such as memorizing phone numbers or performing intricate computations with pen and paper. However, this is not always the case.

While technology may have a variety of effects on children, one of them is that it makes them less intelligent. According to a recent study from the University of Cincinnati, the innovation and widespread availability of smart gadgets have relieved our brains of the burden of storing data and executing difficult computations. As a result, our decision-making abilities will improve.

Babies have the ability to memorize things

This term has been debated about a lot recently. We used to believe that a newborn’s mind was blank, yet we couldn’t have been more wrong. It has been shown that 90% of a child’s brain develops before the age of five. The child’s mind would be developing at a considerably higher rate than at any other moment. Curiosity, attentiveness, awareness of the surroundings, and cognitive abilities will be significantly enhanced during this period as youngsters absorb as much information from their surroundings as possible and strive to piece things together to make sense of it.

Conclusion

When it comes to learning new things, today’s children are more self-sufficient. Instead of pestering their parents for answers to questions that their parents may not even be aware of, they just use a search engine.
